Stable isotopes are in the nascent stages for studying Palaearctic-Afrotropical migrant birds. A new paper from Reichlin et al. continues to push and expand this research. The authors examine whether migratory connectivity of the European hoopoe can be determined from hydrogen isoscapes. They also look for xericity of the wintering habitat using nitrogen and carbon.
